M.Sc. in Chemistry

(Physical, Analytical, Organic, and Inorganic)

Requirements for Admission:

The following requirements are stated according to Graduate College Academic regulations as prerequisites for admission.

–          B.Sc. (honor) in chemistry or related field from Nile Valley University or equivalent.

–           B.Sc. in chemistry  with  grad good at minimum + higher Diploma in chemistry or related field, from Nile Valley University  or equivalent, or to be engaged in 12 credits hours as complementary requirements tuition.

Teaching Approaches and Medium of Instructions:

Arabic and English languages are the media of instructions

Different instruction means will be used in addition to lectures and assignments in specific topics, seminars, reports, tutorials, and practical work are obligatory.

Evaluation and Degree Requirements:

According to the Graduate College Academic regulations.

–          By the end of each semester, students are expected to pass, and obtain a minimum of 2.5 aggregate marks in the offered courses.

–          Students will normally undertake a research project of their choice under the guidance of a supervisor. Project work is to be viewed as an introduction to the exciting task of generating new knowledge. During the course of the project the student will learn standard and advanced experimental techniques, how to analyze data and write up scientific reports.

Course Structure:

Graduation degree (MSc.) will be a warded in one of the four specializations; Physical, Organic, Inorganic or Analytical chemistry after completion of two teaching semesters and a dissertation. Total credit hours are 36, to be completed within 12 to 24 months duration. Both theoretical and practical requirements and seminars will be conducted according to the course nature.

DISSERTATION: ( 6Credits)

Each student shall carry out a project work in one of the broad areas of the chemistry sections for a period of about 16 – 18 weeks under the supervision of a staff member of the department. The project can be carried out in a research institute / industry of national repute with co guidance from expertise there, or in both.
